Hi guys
Hope you’re all well and good. During a recent trip to London I passed Carnaby Street and of course could not resist the temptation to go into the Doc Marten’s shop I spotted there. I love love love their ‘retro’ style boots and shoes but realised I haven’t owned a pair since I was about 16 years old. I am definitely going to buy another pair at some point soon although I have to say I was super tempted when I saw they had a vegan range available (see poster in above pic). The black ones in the photo look identical to their leather counterparts and when I tried them on didn’t have the hardness that you initial get from leather shoes before they soften up.
As I’m still a newbie vegan (5 months in and loving it!) I still haven’t decided how far I am going to take the whole not-wearing-leather thing. For now, I still wear leather shoes/my trusty leather jacket which I already own and have bought a leather watch and some wool jumpers since becoming vegan.
Saying that, I have taken it on myself to purchase a new non-leather bag and purse. They are great and the best part is that, even if they don’t last as long as leather would, I get to go shopping again! I also was very happy when I bought an amazing jumper from Zara recently which is also cruelty-free and going to be my new favourite jumper of all time The only downside is that it is handwash 😦
It is great that companies such as Doc Marten’s are catering for the growing market of more conscious consumers as well as the fashion-conscious. This website has been recommended to me for ethical/cruelty-free clothing. I have yet to check it out but in the meantime, happy shopping!
